Dickson Coasting To Victory

GOVERNOR Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State is leading as the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, started the official announcement of the state governorship election results in the evening of Sunday, December 6, and as results have continued to trickle in this morning.

So far, Dickson has 94,980 votes as against 65,620 votes for Timipreye Sylva, his leading opponent in the election. The results have also shown that the governor who is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has 59 percent of the votes cast in six local governments, while Sylva has scored 41 percent of the votes. Of the eight local government areas in the state, Dickson has won in five areas while Sylva won in one area.
