HENRY Seriake Dickson, Governor of Bayelsa State on Wednesday restated his commitment to collaborate with the Nigeria Air-Force and other security agencies in protecting strategic national assets located within the state and the Niger-Delta region.

He expressed this optimism during a courtesy call on him at Government House, Yenagoa, by the new Air Vice Marshall Emmanuel Akogu, air officer commanding the Mobility Command of the Nigeria Air-Force.

During the visit, Akogi assured Dickson of a cordial working relationship between the command and the government, while lauding the government for its assistance to the command.

According to the governor, the collaboration would enable the government to put such economic assets to more profitable use and for the benefit of the nation’s economy.

Dickson said the state government placed a lot of premium on security, law and order, as well as the protection of the citizenry.

He stressed that, the government has zero tolerance for lawlessness, criminality and violence.

While expressing satisfaction with the existing collaboration between the government, NAF and other security agencies for their contribution to the maintenance of law and order and the execution of their core mandate, he stated that the government will create a conducive working environment for the command in the State.

He said, “We are counting on the Nigeria Air Force and other security agencies to join forces to bring Bayelsa back to its glory days as the government and people are ready to collaborate with the Air Force to enthrone peace, security and good working environment.

“On assumption of office, the security situation was very bad, but within a short period government was able to address the problem of insecurity due to the cooperation of the citizenry and the security agencies that flushed out the criminals, which made Bayelsa to be among the safest states in Nigeria.

“Until recently, before the elections, criminals parading themselves as politicians made the state unsafe, but we count on the Air Force to bring Bayelsa back to its glory days.”
