AS the countdown to the gubernatorial election of December 5, in Bayelsa State draws near, more groups have now are aligned themselves with Governor Seriake Dickson in his bid for a second term in office.
The groups which the Dickson train recently were the Isoko Development Union and the United Isoko/Urhobo Traders Association in Bayelsa, whose members have expressed preparedness to mobilize people in voting massively for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Speaking during a solidarity visit to Governor Dickson over the weekend at the executive council chambers of the Government House, Yenagoa, capital city, Idama Michael, president of the Isoko Development Union, said his group was the largest registered non-indigene group in the state that shared a common cultural and historical relationship with the people of Bayelsa.
Michael said in the last three and half years, Dickson had proved himself a worthy leader that could adequately take charge of the affairs of the state amidst daunting challenges. He, therefore, urged the governor to incorporate members of the group into the Restoration Campaign Organisation to enable it canvass support to ensure his return to the Creek Haven, seat of the Bayelsa State government.
Also in his remarks, Gelor Moses, leader of the United Isoko/Uhrobo Traders Association, said his association had enjoyed a harmonious relationship with the people of the state in view of the conducive and peaceful environment created by the administration of Governor Dickson for businesses to flourish.
Moses, who pledged support on behalf of the association, assured that his members would arm themselves with the permanent voter cards to ensure victory for Dickson in the coming election to enable him continue with his sustainable development agenda.
