Divorce: Court advises couple to reconcile amicably
Judiciary
AN Area Court in Centre-Igboro, Ilorin, Kwara, on Monday advised a woman, Ramat Jimoh, seeking the dissolution of her marriage to settle with her husband amicably.
Ramat had applied for the dissolution of her marriage over alleged lack of care and love from her husband, Aminullah Jimoh.
However, the presiding Judge, Mr Hammed Ajumonbi, in his ruling, advised the couple to seek amicable resolution of their misunderstandings.
According to Ajumonbi, it is the court’s commitment to preserve marriages and promote reconciliation wherever possible.
He observed that the marriage could still be salvaged.
The judge, therefore, advised Ramat to remain with her husband and urged her husband to show more love, care and attention to his wife.
He adjourned the case until Jan. 20 for report of settlement.
Earlier, Ramat, filed for divorce, saying she was no longer interested in the marriage.
She complained that since they moved to their own house four years ago, her husband stopped taking care of her, instead, transferred his love and care to their children.
In his defence, the husband urged the court not to grant his wife’s request.
He said, “I run a laundromat and had to be sleeping in the office to dry clean customers’ clothes, due to poor power supply.”
He, however, promised to show more love and affection to his wife (NAN)
6th January, 2025.
