–

SPEAKER of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara has announced the removal of the House Committee Chairman on Appropriations, Abdulmumin Jibrin from Kano State as chairman of the committee. He was replaced with the House Chairman on Housing, Mustapha Bala Dawaki also from Kano State and member of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

But the Speaker said that Jibrin had requested for his removal from the Committee, hence, the change. Recall that the Kano born lawmaker had issues with his colleagues while holding sway as Chairman of Appropriations as he was accused of putting many constituency projects worth over N4 billion in the 2016 budget.

This development led to the clamour for his removal but the Speaker was said to have protected him following the role he played in his emergence as Speaker. While announcing Jibrin’s replacement, Dogara said,” he (Jibrin) came to me and said he cannot do it anymore and that the pressure was on him.” – Vanguard
