PROF. Frank-Colins Okafor, Head, Department of Political Science, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka has called on eligible voters, especially those in Anambra not to shun voter apathy in the Feb. 23 Presidential and National Assembly elections.

Okafor made the call in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Awka on Tuesday, adding that their civic responsibility was crucial toward political development of the country.

The Don called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to put its house in order to ensure that the rescheduled elections are conducted free, fair and credible.

According to him, all eyes are on INEC to conduct election that would be acceptable to the citizenry and show the international community that the quality of democracy in the country had improved.

He appealed to political gladiators to always play the game according to the rule to ensure peace and development.

Okafor further urged INEC to re-audit all the processes it outlined for Feb.23 elections and other elections to guarantee free and fair exercise and restore the confidence of people in the electoral process. (NAN)
