THE Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Nile University of Nigeria, Prof. Dleep Kumar has called on the Federal Government to explore changes in modern technological to advance the development of education sector in the country.

Kumar made the call at its Postgraduate Master Class in Abuja on Friday.

The theme of the Master Class is: “Managing Work and Business in a VUCA Environment ‘’.

He explained that there was need to explore technology in the education sector due to the volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity of the environment occasioned by COVID-19 pandemic.

“We must move from the traditional method to automation. We need to revisit all education programmes to showcase the employability of graduates.

“The future of this country lies with how we use technology in every sector, particularly in the education sector.

“COVID-19 impact has created several opportunities, especially in business. We need to make the organisation work in a more efficient and effective way by exploring the existing resources at the most available time

“Industries like hospitality and education, among others almost collapse during the pandemic and it will take much time to catch up the business time.

“If we don’t join other countries in the use of technology in our education system, then we cannot move forward as a country. The future of this country is in the use of technology,” he said.

He said that the country was gradually recovering from the pandemic, adding that insecurity had posed a challenge in its full recovery.

Kumar, therefore, said that a lot of recovery would be visible after 2024, but the country must begin to explore opportunity the pandemic brought.

”Classrooms are gradually disappearing; admissions in universities will now be virtual or online.

“This complete change is happening with the use of technology, so Nigeria should also key in,” he added.

The deputy vice-chancellor said that the country at this period should be prepared for the change, manage the change process and reinforce the change for the future of the country.

Also, Prof. Joseph Nnanna, the Chief Economist, Development Bank of Nigeria (DBN) called on stakeholders to begin to reposition and adjust to the global trend.

Nnanna said there was need for the country to be dynamic to respond to the changes for all sectors to progress. (NAN)
