Don’t Blame Rohr if Super Eagles Fail to Qualify – Babangida
Sports Briefs
–
AHEAD of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers coming up in October, Tijani Babangida, former Super Eagles player, has said that Genort Rorh, new technical adviser of the team, should not be blamed if Nigeria fails to qualify for the championship. Babangida, who served as the personal assistant to Sunday Oliseh, former Super Eagles Coach, said Rorh may add little or nothing to the team because his coming was rather too close to the qualifiers.
According to him, Nigeria is not the favourite to top the group, which also has number one African ranked nation, Algeria, four time champions Cameroon as well as 2012 African Cup of Nations champions Zambia. Super Eagles is not the favourites to qualify from the group because other members are ranked higher. The team has to work hard to qualify while adequate plans should be made for the well-being of the coach and the players.
Babangida advised the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, to ensure that they provide everything necessary to ensure that the players be at their best as they go into the qualifiers. He equally charged the technical crew to ensure that they invite players based on their current form to have any chance of booking a place at the world stage.
