A group, South East Young Progressives Forum has asked members-elect of the National Assembly from the geopolitical zone not be part of any force that will work against executive arm of government headed by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The leader of the group, Mr Paschal Otimkpu gave the admonition on Monday at a press briefing in Awka, Anambra State.
He tasked the NASS members-elect,”To be good ambassadors of Ndigbo and to represent South East with renewed resolve to attract more development to the region”.
The group’s statement read in part,” Support President Muhammud Buhari and the APC ideals.
“Establish yourselves in the National Assembly as loyal and sincere patriots and work without compromise, for the overall development of the South East and the country at large.
“Don’t pursue personal or self-serving agenda at the detriment of Igbo in particular and Nigerians in general. You are expected to align with pro-people agenda of President Muhammadu Buhari”.
The Group also called on the lawmakers-elect from the area to close ranks and establish synergy with the State Governments in South East to forge a common front in bringing development to the region.
It added,” In the collective interest of our people who overwhelmingly renewed our mandate, we must forge a common front for renewed hope and prosperity for South East and Nigeria at Large.”
“We urge all our Lawmakers-elect from South East to hit the ground running by working closely with President Buhari and the Federal government to identify ongoing federal government projects in our zone in order to fast track their completion as well as attracting new ones.” – Punch
