Don’t use FRSC platforms for political motives – FRSC Boss advises Special Marshals

THE Acting Corps Marshal of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr Dauda Biu , has advised Special Marshals who are politicians not to use the FRSC platform or special marshal office for the advancement of their political careers.
Biu, represented by Corps Commander Comfort Asmos , gave the charge on the sideline of the 2022 Special Marshals Zonal Conference held in Osogbo on Thursday.
It had as its theme: “The Responsibility of Special Marshals in the face of a new Administration of the Corps ” .
He said the corps regalia, hand bands, face cap among others are to be used for operational purposes and not to be worn during political campaigns and rallies .
“It is crucial you tighten your belts and push yourselves to reach greater heights into supporting the current administration to succeed.
“Special Marshals voluntary obligations to the corps is to perform their duties in a manner that is consistent with the corporate strategic goals of the corps.”
According to him, the marshals must ensure free flows of traffic, sustainable patrol enforcement and increase road safety researches which must be actively pursued .
The acting corps marshal said the corps would continue to assess performances, restrategise on activities of the previous years and plan routes for the future of the marshals .
“We must continue to work toward better solutions to the increasing difficulties in road traffic managements and collaborative efforts”.
Biu commended the special marshals from the zone comprising Osun, Oyo and Ondo for their selfless services and efforts aimed at reducing carnage on the highways .
The Zonal Commanding Officer in charge of Osun, Oyo and Ondo, ACM Ojeamiren Uakhemen, commended the marshal for organising the conference especially at the ember months when there is heavy vehicular movements on highways .
Uakhemen explained that FRSC had continued to encourage robost synergy among critical stakeholders in promoting crash prevention and sustaining safety advocacy .
He commended both the regular and special marshals for their efforts in reducing the rate of accidents under his zones to 19 per cent compared with what was recorded in 2021.
Uakhemen appealed to all the marshals at the conference to be active and also replicate what they had learnt in their respective states whenever they returned back .
Also, the National Coordinator of Special Marshals, Dr John Ogbejor, said the activities of the marshal were to complement the tireless efforts of the regular marshals and to ensure safety of lives and propertise on highways .
Ogbejor, represented by Prince Tunde Ajiboye, said most Nigerian road users were ignorant of the road traffic regulations and many disregarded the rules at will, of which was worrisome .
He said that special marshals would not relent in efforts at achieving the mandate upon which the corps was established .
“They must be shining lights and exemplary to road users and also replicate all what they have learnt in their respective states.”
In his remarks, Gov. Adegboyega Oyetola, appreciated the corps for organising the conference which would help keep the state safe from all forms of accidents and insecurity .
Oyetola, represented by his Special Adviser in the Ministry of Works and Transport, Mr Toke Olaniyan, urged the marshals not to relent in making the state safe especially during and after the ember months. (NAN )
