THE DEPARTMENT of Petroleum Resources, DPR, is to collaborate with the Lagos State government in its quest to develop a road map for oil and gas in the state.
Mordecai Ladan, director, DPR, gave the indication while receiving Olawale Oluwo, the Lagos State commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, during his courtesy visit to the agency.
Wole Akinyosoye, DPR Zonal Operations Controller, Lagos, received the commissioner on behalf of Ladan. Ladan, according to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, described DPR as “a responsible corporate organisation ready to work with the Lagos State Government to realise its aspirations for the oil and gas industry.”
He promised the agency’s total cooperation and collaboration with the state government in all areas regarding the oil and gas sector. The director said that this was the beginning of a long-lasting relationship between DPR and the Lagos State government.
In his remarks, Oluwo said that the visit was to seek areas of cooperation and partnership with DPR on all oil and gas matters as it affects the state. He said that the state government had identified various areas of the oil sector from upstream, midstream to downstream as areas of interest for investment.
“The DPR promised to set up a committee, in conjunction with the state to further examine areas of cooperation in the overall interest of the Nigerian economy,’’ Oluwo said.
