PRESIDENT, Northern Consensus Movement (NCM), Auwal Aliyu, said on Thursday that the dreams of Nigeria’ s Founding Fathers was still realizable in spite of the current challenges.

Aliyu told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kaduna that even most prosperous nations of the world today experienced challenges in the past, but were able to scale through as a result of determination and prayers.

“If Nigerians agree that we have no other country than Nigeria and see ourselves as brothers and sisters, we will attain greater heights.

“Challenges are surmountable, no matter the level of such challenges; all we need are prayers and determination,” he said.

According to him, the clamour for division by few people will not yield any positive results, stressing that only peace and unity can make the country move forward.

He urged Nigerians to bear in mind that their first obligation was to their country, Nigeria, as contained in the National Pledge.

While acknowledging that there were issues that needed to be resolved, following due process as spelt out by the constitution in addressing grievances was the best option.

“Our problems are enormous and that is why we need to have a round-table discussion on how to solve our problems,” he advised.

He noted that Nigeria is being faced with security challenges, which had in some way, brought about the collapse in peace, unity and development in some parts of the country.

He however expressed optimism that with prayers and collective determination, those challenges would soon be “happenings of the past.”
