Driver docked for alleged breach of trust

THE Police on Wednesday arraigned a 64-year-old ,driver, Godson Iheadi, in a Dei-Dei Grade I Area Court, Abuja, for alleged breach of trust and cheating.

The police charged Iheadi of Karamajiji village Airport road Abuja, with a criminal breach of trust , cheating and mischief

The Prosecution Counsel, Mr Chinedu Ogada, told the court that on July 7 the complainant, Mark Bassey, of  P’S Egure OFF-Wole Soyinka avenue, 2nd avenue Gawrinpa Abuja reported the matter at the Gwarinpa  Police station.

Ogada said that the complainant gave Iheadi his Madza 323F car  for commercial purposes on hire Purchase of N2.8 million.

He said the defendant agreed to remit N27,500 weekly to the complainant.

He said that the defendant refused to remit the money for ten weeks with an excuse that the car had a mechanic fault.

Ogada alleged that the defendant dishonestly converted the complainant money for ten weeks to his personal use.

He told the court that the defendant made a confessional statement that he defaulted several times in remitting the N27,500 to the complainant.

He said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Judge, Malam Sulyman Ola, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety in like sum.

Ola ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and produce reliable means of identification.

He adjourned the matter until Dec. 20 for hearing. (NAN)
