Driver docked for alleged dangerous driving, failure to obey order

A truck driver, Mansir Seidu, was on Wednesday docked in a Grade I Area Court Karu, Abuja, for alleged dangerous driving and failure to stop when asked to by officer.

The police charged Seidu 29 who lives at Idu Depot, FCT, Abuja was charged with dangerous driving, and failing to stop when ordered to stop by police officer.

The Prosecution Counsel, Olanrewaju Osho, told the court that on Sept. 20, the defendant while driving a Man diesel truck with registration number KEF 972 SE on the Karu Bridge drove in a dangerous manner and when asked to stop by road traffic officers, he refused to stop.

The matter, he said, was reported at  the Karu Police station.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 28 and 17 of road traffic act.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the offence.

The Judge,  Malam Inuwa Maiwada, granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Maiwada ordered that the sureties must provide reasonable means of I.D card, Bank Statement and address must be verified by court officers.

The Judge adjourned the case until Nov. 3 for mention. (NAN)
