PROF. Wahab Egbewole, the Vice-Chancellor of University of Ilorin, on Saturday congratulated the Christian community on the Easter, describing it as an enduring lesson for mankind.

Egbewole, in a statement in Ilorin by the university’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun, said there was first the need to be grateful to the Almighty God.

”This is for preserving the lives of members of the university community to witness the 2024 Easter celebrations.”

He added that the celebrations, which coincided with the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, is a lesson.

The vice-chancellor said the lesson was in unity and fraternity not only for the adherents of Islam and Christianity but also to the entire human community.

“Human beings are one and the same people created by the Almighty God for the purpose of extolling His greatness,” he said.

Egbewole said the human community, particularly Christians, must always reflect on the enduring attributes of Jesus Christ.

”His experience before, during and after his crucifixion more than 2,000 years ago laid the foundation of the celebrations.”

He enjoined all to emulate and always exhibit the honesty, humility, simplicity, piety, generosity, sacrifice and perseverance of Jesus Christ in their private and public lives.

”This is for the nation not only to be at peace with itself but also witness tremendous rapid development.”

Egbewole assured the University of Ilorin community members that his administration would continue to treat all with fairness and equality and without any form of consideration for region, tribe or faith.(NAN)
