GOV. David Umahi of Ebonyi has directed the immediate relocation of all poultry markets within Abakaliki to a permanent designated site.

This is contained in a statement by Mr Francis Nwaze, Special Assistant to the governor on Media and Publicity and issued to newsmen on Saturday in Abakaliki.

It said the order was to be carried out within 24 hours.

The permanent site is located opposite the St. Margaret Umahi International Market, Abakaliki.

“Recall that the governor had issued the same directive a year ago, but it was discovered that  many of the poultry traders failed to comply.

“In the foregoing, the governor has directed the Commissioner for Capital City, to impound and prosecute any of such illegal markets, from Monday, July 5,” the statement added.
