Edet Ambang emerges Akiscom Lagos president-elect

MEMBERS of Akwa Ibom State Community, AKISCOM, Lagos, on has elected Edet Ambang as the president of the community. Other new set of leaders to administer the affairs of the community for the next three years were also duly elected and their respective positions announced Saturday, November 18.

In a transparent, fair and credible voting and collation process conducted in the presence of the election observers and agents, who duly signed the results sheets, Ambang, a multi sectoral entrepreneur of repute, polled 155 votes to defeat his closest rival, Pastor Emmanuel Joseph, who polled 137 votes and two other contestants, who polled 26 and 8 votes respectively.

The president-elect, in his acceptance speech  after the announcement of results and  being declared the winner,  assured members of his  commitment to the implementation of his Pro-WES Agenda to create an appreciable impact in the community and ensure general well-being of members.

He thanked members for the confidence reposed in him to lead AKISCOM Lagos and called for their support and cooperation to achieve his lofty development plans as encapsulated in his Pro-WES Agenda which represents, Projects, Welfare, Empowerment and Scholarship.

While stressing that campaigns were over and it was time for governance, Chief Ambang assured members that  he would embrace his fellow contestants and  harness their knowledge and areas of strength in the overall interest of the Community and members. 

When later contacted, Ambang emphasized his willingness to key into the A-r-i-s-e Agenda of Pastor Umo Eno very productively with a view to ensuring that Akwa Ibomites  in Lagos and its environs also benefit from the laudable development plans orchestrated by the Akwa Ibom State Government.

Ambang is the outgoing President of Oron Union, Lagos. He has so far served the union very productively with verifiable records of commendable achievements.

Other officers  duly elected and declared winners include  Silas Udoh as vice-president 1; Ubon Charles Akpan, vice-president 2;  Stella Enyong as general secretary; evangelist Mfon Emeh as treasurer and Mercy Tom as financial secretary. 

Others are Evangelist Odudu Arthur as the assistant secretary 1, Elder Ofonmbuk Inyang, assistant secretary 2,  Mfon Ibanga, Assistant financial secretary, Gloria Udanang as social secretary, Promise Udofia, assistant social secretary, Ambassador Marshall Udoh, chief Welfare officer, Linus Essien, public relations officer, Deacon Aniekan Ukpe, internal auditor and MlMfonAbasi Asuquo as provost while the post of legal adviser will be filled by the new Executives.

Meanwhile, following announcement of the results, Pastor Emmanuel Joseph immediately conceded the defeat and displayed a high spirit of sportsmanship by  embracing and congratulating Ambang, just like the other two presidential candidates in that category. 

 However, both winners  and losers of other positions have appreciated their supporters for standing by them before and  during the elections.
