THE Edo Community in Vienna has suspended Kingsley Ugiagbe, one of its members, for threatening to attack Igbos wherever he sees them and urging all Edo people to do the same.

In a disclaimer signed by its President, Nosa Aifuwa, explained that although Kingsley Ugiagbe is a member of the Edo Community in Vienna, his statements were entirely his own entitlements and did not represent directly or indirectly the position of the Edo Community Vienna or the larger Edo Community.

It also described Ugiagbe’s statements as appalling and incendiary, implying that there is a running battle between the Edo Community and the Igbo Communities.

Realnews reports that Ugiagbe in a virtual meeting on TikTok with other Edo natives threatened to attack and kill Igbos wherever he sees them.

“I will come to the Edo party with poison. The first person I will give the poison to is that one they called the Chairman of Ndigbo.

“Anywhere Edo people see Igbo people we should do to them whatever we can do, and if they (Edo people) cannot do anything by fighting them, we should carry our poison in the pocket. I have already arranged my own.

“Thank God there will be Edo Festival on 31.08.2024. I will be going there with my poison to poison the Igbos,” he said during the virtual meeting.

In a swift response to the video, which has since gone viral, the Edo Community in Vienna said that Ugiagbe had been suspended indefinitely from all Edo Community activities until the matter was resolved.

Part of the statement reads: “In this connection, Edo Community Vienna wishes to implore the general public to please disregard Mr Kingsley Ugiagbe’s statements as the leadership of our Edo Community Vienna, has been in talks with the Igbo Community and both are working assiduously to resolve the matter.

“We therefore encourage all concerned individuals and groups to please go about their normal businesses as they relate to their engagement with us, either as members of Edo Community Vienna or the larger Edo community.

“Edo Community Vienna therefore wishes to inform the general public and to state as follows:

“That threat to life, inter alia, is a very serious matter that we, in Edo Community Vienna, do not treat with levity;

“That the Igbo communities and indeed, all other communities everywhere, are our families, friends and business allies and we have enjoyed mutual love, respect and unity amongst us all for ages.

“That we therefore refute in the strongest terms, Mr Kingsley Ugiagbe’s statements in their entirety, and therefore dissociate ourselves individually and collectively from them.”
