THE Edo Government said on Tuesday that it would partner with professional bodies, including the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN)  in its strategic efforts to grow the economy of the state.

The Deputy Governor of the state, Philip Shaibu, said this in Benin while declaring open the three-day Mandatory Continuing Professional Development (MCPD) programme of the association.

The theme of the programme is “Enhancing Proficiency in Professionalism in Public and Private Sectors.”

Shaibu said that the state government would always partner with the association to enhance the work force of the state.

He urged the participants to take advantage of the programme to improve their professional skills.

He said the present administration in Edo was committed to transforming the economy of the state through Public Private Partnership initiatives.

Earlier, the President of ANAN, Alhaji Shehu Ladan, commended the state government for the achievements it had recorded through its purposeful leadership.

Ladan also commended government for its fight against human trafficking and for increasing its internally generated revenue.

He gave the assurance that the programme would improve the skills of its members to face the challenges posed by the changing trends in the profession.
