90 indigent students to benefit from community scholarship award in Anambra

Chief Bonny Nkwuaku, the President-General of Enugwu-Ukwu Community, has called on the chairmen of the 18 villages in the community to select five indigent students for scholarship award.

Nkwuaku made this call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Enugwu-Ukwu in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra.

Nkwuaku said the chairmen were expected to select five brilliant but indigent students per village through a transparent process to ensure that the most qualified is selected for the award.

“The chairmen should submit names of the successful candidates on Dec. 7, who are be sponsored for the 2019 JAMB/UTME examination by a Non-Governmental Organisation, DENGOZ Foundation and the Ukwu Community Union.

“Candidates, who gain admission into any federal tertiary institution will be offered scholarship by the Foundation.

“The successful candidates will be presented with the 2019 UTME sponsorship on Dec. 29 at Obu Nwanekwe’s compound Uruogbo village, Enugwu-Ukwu,’’ he said.

The Nkwuaku urged other wealthy people in the community to ‘think home’ and empower the downtrodden in the community in order to improve on their lives.

NAN reports that the benefactor of the scholarship, Chief Dennis Anekwe, is the Chairman of DENGOZ Foundation, and also the Traditional Prime Minister of the community. (NAN)
