THE Anambra State government has clarified issues arising from the recent extension of service years of teachers engaged in public schools across the state.

The government had in a circular dated January 23, extended the service years of teachers in the state from 60 to 65 years.

However, as follow up explanation of earlier circular, February 7, by Harry Udu, the head of service, HOS, noted that government’s waiver was meant for only staff actively involved in classroom teaching.

“The beneficiaries are to go through quality assurance assessment to ascertain that they still have the cognitive ability, energy and drive required to deliver the required services effectively,’’ it noted.

According to the circular, they must be ready to serve in any location where their services may be needed.

It added that earlier date of Jan. 17, 2019 has been amended to effective dispensation date of Jan. 1.
