PARENT Teachers Association, PTA, in Onitsha has appealed to Anambra State government to enforce crisis management steps in schools to prevent confusion during emergency situations.

Some parents made the appeal to the state government of recent rumours over a botched Medical Mission by the Nigerian Army.

Some of the parents emphasised that students were lured to abandon their premises without proper authorisation over the false alarm by some unknown persons.

Uju Anyaegbunam, a parent and PTA member, from Regina Pacis Secondary School, Onitsha, condemned such acts and termed it `a lack of crisis management skills’ by some school operators.

She called on the government to ensure that school operators, especially private school owners were educated on the right steps to take in time during crisis situations.

Ifeanyi Orji, another parent, criticised the location of some private owned schools, noting that many schools were not properly cited.

Orji said that school operation without adequate fencing and gates would always throw parents into confusion whenever there was crisis.

She called on government to check security inadequacies in schools as this lapse could weaken the security strength built by Obiano for Ndi Anambra.

Oluchi Achukwu, PTA member, Immaculate Heart of Conception, Onitsha urged parents to consider their children’s safety before enrolling them in schools.

She, then, expressed satisfaction at immediate steps taken by the government to restore peace to the state.
