BREAKING NEWS, Crime

–

EMEKA Mba, director general of the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission, NBC, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in Abuja on Monday, January 11. He was taken to the anti-graft agency’s headquarters where he is currently being interrogated over an alleged N15 billion fraud.

EFCC sources had been investigating the NBC in the past one month, and just last week, some detectives stormed the headquarters of the NBC, and ransacked the computers and files in the Finance and Account unit.

Some arrested officials of the NBC who were taken away after the ransacking, implicated their boss during their confession to the EFCC.

Wilson Uwujaren, the EFCC spokesperson, could not confirm the arrest, when contacted, but a top official of EFCC said: “Yes, he (Mr. Mba) is with us. We are investigating massive diversion of public funds and we’re making progress. Mba definitely has questions to answer.”
