Eid-el-Fitr: Emir of Ilorin calls for peaceful co-existence
General News
THE Emir of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has urged Muslims to continue to live in peace and harmony with other human races across the world.
Sulu-Gambari made the call while addressing the Muslim congregation at Ilorin Central Eid-Praying Ground on Wednesday, marking the 2024 Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
The traditional ruler, who observed that no tangible development could be attained in an atmosphere of chaos and acrimony, emphasised the need to continue to ensure peace and unity prevailed at all times.
He noted that despite the challenges facing the nation, residents of Ilorin had learnt to live in peace and harmony without rancour, which he said called for gratitude and more prayers.
“Be thankful to Almighty Allah for His mercies and protection over us and His endless blessings on the nation,” Sulu-Gambari said.
The emir condemned the act of kidnapping and other social vices persisting in some parts of the country.
Sulu-Gambari advised citizens to always support their leaders with fervent prayers and obey the laws for those in authority to deliver on their mandates.
He also sued for support for President Bola Tinubu and Gov. AbdulRahaman AbdulRazaq to be successful.
He advised Muslims to always conduct themselves peacefully and desist from any form of problem, stressing that the praying ground should not be turned into a battlefield.
In his sermon, the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Alhaji Mohammed Bashir, urged the Muslim faithful to remain committed to the commandments of Almighty Allah always.
He urged Muslims to be conscious of the fact that only Almighty Allah could determine who would witness the next Ramadan, thus advising all to always remain dutiful to Him. (NAN)
