GOV. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has commended Nigerians for  perseverance and resilience in the face of the current economic realities.

In a Sallah message on Wednesday in Bauchi, the governor described the economic situation as a national problem.

According to him, the Bauchi government in collaboration with the Federal Government is providing palliative measures to mitigate the harsh economic impacts on the people.

Mohammed assured government’s commitment to proactive measures aimed at bringing succor to the people, and urged the people to see the situation as a temporary setback to be overcome in no distant time.

“Our government is irrevocably committed to the continued peaceful coexistence among the heterogeneous ethnic and religious groups in the State.

“I appeal for your continued understanding, cooperation and support towards the realisation of this noble objective.

“I appeal to you all to use the occasion of the Eid-el-Fitr to strengthen the existing relationships and also establish new ones.

“You should also imbibe the spirit of forgiveness, love and respect for one another. I also appeal for tolerance and accommodation by the various ethnic, religious and political groups in the state,” he said.

While congratulating the Muslims on the occasion of the Eid-el-Fitr, the governor expressed the hope that the lessons learnt during the month of Ramadan would continue to guide people’s actions and utterances.

He also urged the people to use the occasion to reflect on their past activities and see how they had fared spiritually so as to take corrective measures towards improving their relationship with God, fellow Muslims and adherents of other faiths.

Mohammed further stressed the need for the Muslims to emulate Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) by making sacrifices to support the less privileged in the society. (NAN)
