THE Plateau Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 2,000 personnel in the state, ahead of the Eid-el Fitr celebrations.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the command, Nanko Rimvyok, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Jos.

She said that the NSCDC Commandant in the state, Mr Alexander Barunde, said that the deployment would ensure both covert and physical operations.

According to her, the deployment is not to intimidate law abiding citizens but to ensure a peaceful celebration in the state.

”The command has deployed 2,000 officers and men for both covert and physical duties in the state to ensure safety of critical national assets and infrastructures, lives and property.

“It will also ensure a hitch-free Eid-el-Fitr celebrations in the state,” she said.

Rimvyok assured residents of the state that the command would collaborate with other security agencies toward a violent-free celebration and curtail crime and criminality in the state.

She, however, called on residents of the state to support the command and other security agencies in their bid to stemming down the tides of insecurity in the state. (NAN)
