ADEGBOYEGA Adegoke, the Ajia-Balogun Olubadan of Ibadanland, has urged Nigerians to have faith in God and pray for a more prosperous country as Muslims celebrate the Eid-el-Kabir.
Adegoke made the plea in a statement he personally signed and made available to newsmen in Ibadan.
The News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) reports that Adegoke is the Executive Director of OES Energy Services Limited and founder, Adegboyega Adegoke Resource Centre (AARC).
Adegoke said Muslims should ensure the celebration reflected the faith with which Prophet Ibrahim willingly agreed to sacrifice his son in obedience to the command of Almighty Allah.
He urged them to imbibe the spirit of faith and obedience to Almighty Allah as exhibited by Prophet Ibrahim while ensuring it reflected in their dealings as individuals or in governance.
“Muslims should be ready to ensure that the society feels the impact of the knowledge and teachings of Prophet Ibrahim in their character and relationship with others,” he said.
He enjoined Muslims not to allow the lessons and significance of the celebration end with the festivities, urging them to continue in the pursuit of peace for national development.
“I want to urge Muslims and non-Muslims nationwide to desist from any act of disobedience to the teachings of Islam and the law of the land.
“As we are combating the menace of Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, I want us all irrespective of religion, position or tribe to obey the laws of the land.
“We should all endeavour to follow all the preventive and precautionary measures put in place to curtail the spread of the dreaded COVID-19,” he said.
Adegoke also urged Nigerian leaders to show greater concern for the poor, adding that they should give no room for materialism, greed and primitive accumulation of wealth.
“If the spiritual core of man is recognised, it could lead to a better perspective about life. There would be no room for senseless materialism, greed and primitive accumulation of wealth.
“Rather, there would be a greater concern for the poor and betterment of the entity call Nigeria,” Adegoke said.
He felicitated with the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji, Ibadan High Chiefs as well as the people of the state for witnessing the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
Adegoke prayed for Allah’s protection on all during and after the celebration.(NAN)
