EMMANUELLA Onyinye Ejime was among the 2,790 students that graduated from the Kingston University in the United Kingdom in January 2016. Ejime, a 2012 Law graduate from the Madonna University, Anambra State, was called to the Nigerian Bar in November 2014. She graduated with commendation, LLM International Commercial Law, at Kingston.
On Wednesday, January 20, Emmanuella’s parents, Paul Ejime, accompanied by his wife, brothers, Christopher, Raphael and James, other family members, friends, and well-wishers, were among guests that attended the colourful graduation ceremony at the Rose Theatre, Kingston upon Thames, London.
Addressing the graduates, Matthew Hilton, deputy vice-chancellor (Operations) and university secretary, urged the graduates to always uphold the Kingston tradition of tolerance, academic excellence and respect for cultural diversity. He counselled them to maintain effective relationship with Kingston and other Alumni in their future life.
Hilton further advised the graduates to always bear in mind that, “your origin does not determine your destination.”
Similarly, Ron Tuninga, dean of the faculty of Business and Law, in his own remarks before handing the awards to the graduates, enjoined them to work with industry and commitment, and to make a difference as they seek out new opportunities in the globalising world. He also admonished them to remain in close touch with the school, and strive to advance its legacy by networking with other Kingston Alumni across the world.
Kingston University, which boasts more than 23,000 student enrollment from across 120 countries (2013/2014), is a popular, diverse and modern institution that consistently ranks in the UK’s top universities for research (and UK’s top 10 for fashion).
The former Colleges of Technology and Art merged in 1970 to form the Kingston Polytechnic, which became Kingston University in 1992.
