THE Chairman of Ikole Local Government in Ekiti State, Mr Sola Olominu, on Tuesday inaugurated an ultra modern Primary Health Centre in Odo Oro-Ekiti community to enhance healthcare service in the area.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the newly constructed health centre was equipped with modern medical facilities, generator and doctor’s quarters.
He said the modern health centre would enhance healthcare service delivery to residents of the community.
Olominu said the completion of the health centre was to meet the needs of the people of the area in terms of affordable, efficient and accessible medical care.
He assured residents of the community that his administration would not relent in its efforts at providing quality healthcare service to them.
”What we are witnessing today is as a result of our committed efforts to remain steadfast in fulfilling our own part of the counterpart funding.
”I am passionate about the welfare of our people and I want to assure them that I will not relent in making sure that this health centre becomes one of the best among it’s equals.
”We will continue to provide developmental projects across all the communities under our jurisdiction.
”Also, I want to solicit for continuing support of our traditional rulers and relevant stakeholders in the area of revenue generation.
“I must thank Gov. Biodun Oyebanji for his support, approval and release of funds for the completion of the health centre,” he said.
Mr Akintunde Ogunsakin, Director, Public Health in the state Primary Health Care Development Agency, commended the efforts of the council chairman for the project.
He appealed to the chairman to provide the centre with hand dug well and solar powered electricity to reduce the cost of buying diesel for the generator.
Ogunsakin solicited for the provision of additional ad hoc staff such as gardeners, security guards and cleaners to the centre.
Similarly, the traditional ruler of the community, the Onise of Odo Oro-Ekiti, Oba Babatunde Jeremiah, said he was elated for the completion of the health centre.
He described the health centre as God’s gift to the town and prayed for God’s protection over the council chairman.
”I sincerely thank the chairman for his commitment and determination to complete the centre in spite of paucity of funds in the council.
”I want to also appeal to the council chairman to employ staff who would man the facility for full operation and delivery of medical service,” he said.
NAN reports that the construction of the health centre was initiated by the former council chairman, Mr Kehinde Agboola, in 2004. (NAN)
