THE Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning in Ekiti, Mr Femi Ajayi, has urged benefitting communities to monitor and protect the projects executed by Ekiti State Social Community Development Agency (EKSCDA) in their areas.

Ajayi made the plea while conducting an inspection of EKSCDA projects in Ilawe-Ekiti, Ekiti South West Local Government Area of Ekiti on Tuesday.
The commissioner said the inspection became necessary to ascertain the level of completion of the projects in the areas, describing the exercise as part of routine checks by the ministry.
He commended the communities for spending the money given to them by government judiciously, urging them to ensure the maintenance of the projects to enhance durability and maximum benefits.
At Oke-Ijagun in Ilawe-Ekiti, where a Community Multipurpose Centre was built, residents were out in their multitude to commend the state government for the project.
The duo of Mrs Grace Jombo and Mr Ojo Dele, who spoke on behalf of others, commended the state government for releasing fund to construct the project.
They however, called for the establishment of biscuit industry in the town, saying the availability of bananas in large quantity in the area favoured the siting of such industry in the area.
The commissioner also visited Ise-Ekiti, in Ise/Orun Local Government Area, where a Community Hall and Special Needs Ward were built for the vulnerable.
A leader of the people with special needs in the community, Mr Temitope Kayode, appreciated the state government and called for more assistance particularly in the area of acquisition of entrepreneurship skills and vocational training.
Kayode said that this would equip persons with special needs and make them self-reliant and economically buoyant.
Other projects inspected include a borehole and renovated Health Centre at Ibeju Shittu in Emure-Ekiti, in Emure Local Area and bridge construction in Ikere-Ekiti, in Ikere Local Government Area, among others.
