Electrician arraigned for alleged stealing

A 24-year old electrician, Temmy Kikiola, was on Thursday arraigned in an Okitipupa Chief Magistrates’ Court, Ondo State, for alleged attempt to steal.

 The defendant, whose address was not given, is facing a two-count charge bordering on felony and attempted stealing.

Kikiola, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges leveled against him.

The Prosecutor, ASP Zedekiah Orogbemi, told the court that the defendant and one other at large, on April 13 around 08:00 p.m at No. 69, Oluwanisola Street in Okitipupa, conspired to commit a felony.

Orogbemi alleged that the defendant jumped the fence into the compound and dwelling house of Kehinde Olayeye in order to steal but was apprehended.

He said that the defendant committed offences contrary to and punishable under Sections 516 and 506, Criminal Code, Cap.37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Philip Akinlosetu granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200, 000 and one surety in like sum.

He said that the surety must be resident within the court`s jurisdiction.

Akinlosetu said that the surety must also show and present evidence of two years tax payment to the state government.

He adjourned the case until July 23, for further hearing.(NAN)
