THE Federal Road Safety Corps, Kaduna State Sector Command , said it has established six transit camps to respond to crashes and prompt clearance of obstructions during the ember months.
The FRSC Sector Commander, Mr Kabir Nadabo, announced this at a press briefing to inaugurate the ‘Ember Months’ campaign on Tuesday in Kaduna.
Nadabo listed the six transit camps to include: Rigachikun, Queen Amina Bridge, Mando, Kakau and Olam, saying,” this is to respond to crashes in the state.
“The Corps Marshal, Shehu Muhammad, has stressed the need to adopt different approaches in minimising road traffic crashes and fatalities.
”He also emphasised better passenger sensitisation to give them a voice to caution drivers who overload, engage in speeding and other unethical road behaviours.”
According to Nadabo, this will significantly empower passengers to engage erring drivers, an act that will ensure a reduction of avoidable crashes.
The sector commander noted with satisfaction the reduction in crashes recorded from January this year compared to 2023.
He also highlighted home grown initiatives such as the Joint Task Force on overloading of goods, animals and humans.
”This was an effort that was replicated around the country and which recorded massive success in terms of reduction of night travels, and by implication crashes,” he said.
Nadabo also said that all instruments to ensure a seamless and hitch-free campaign have been put in place across the state.
He also disclosed that a town hall meeting would be organised at the three Senatorial districts, and he would engage the various stakeholders.
They include traditional rulers and transport unions, saying,”this is to collaborate more and ensure the people are informed on the latest road safety matters and activities.”
Nadabo appreciated the media that have constantly supported FRSC in its campaign to sensitize as well as inform the public to its policies.(NAN)
