THE Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) has appealed to motorists to shun reckless driving and wrongful overtaking to minimise road crashes during the ember months.

The Ijako Unit Commander of TRACE, Mrs Temitope Oseni, made the appeal while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Ota, Ogun.

Oseni said the appeal was necessary as many people believed a supposed evil was always responsible for accidents during the ember months.

NAN reports that the ember months are the last four months of the year – September, October, November and December.

According to the unit commander, most road crashes are rather caused by motorists’ wrong attitude to rules and regulations guiding driving.

“We appeal to motorists to shun dangerous driving and refrain from driving against traffic to stem accidents during the ember months.

“In addition, they should exercise patience and have it on their heads that if January to August cannot be profitmaking, why should September to December,” she said.

Oseni admonished motorists against drunk driving and taking intoxicating substances that could affect their sense of reasoning, thus leading to accidents.

She also warned against indiscriminate parking, urging them to use the caution sign whenever their vehicles break down to prevent incoming vehicles from ramming into them. (NAN)
