He said that the Chief Imam, popularly called “Imam Fulani”, had effectively utilised his office as the Chairman of the State Council of Ulama to unite other Imams.
“Dr Muhammad Bashir has used his position to unite all his colleagues as well as foster peace and inter-religious harmony among Muslims and non-Muslims in the state.
“His well-researched regular Friday sermons and annual Ramadan Tafsir are evergreen with strong diction, thereby influencing and mentoring both young and old in the society.
“His leadership qualities, vast knowledge, commitments and dedication to ‘Dawah’ activities in the last 40 years have further confirmed him as a devout Muslim and lover of peace.
“May Almighty Allah continue to enrich him in knowledge, wisdom and sound health, to be beneficial to Ilorin Emirate, Kwara people and humanity in general, “ the emir prayed.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalled that the Chief Imam of Ilorin was appointed by the late Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Zuluqarnain Muhammadu Gambari, following the demise of Imam Musa Ahmad in 1983.
