Emir of Saminaka receives staff of office

KADUNA State Acting Governor, Dr Hadiza Balarabe on Tuesday presented staff of office to the upgraded Emir of Saminaka, Alhaji Musa Muhammad, and the Chief of Kudaru, Mr Yakubu Sauri.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the two traditional rulers were elevated to Second Class status.

In her speech, the acting governor said that the state government would continue to strengthen traditional institutions to perform their roles effectively.

She said that the state had enacted a law to reform the traditional institution and provide clear succession process.

“The law provides for the posting of well-trained and experienced personnel to staff the various traditional councils.

“We expect the Reform of Traditional Institutions Law passed in 2021 to assist the traditional institutions to better discharge their roles,” she said.

Balarabe said that the government had distributed official vehicles to all the 32 Emirates and Chiefdoms in the state to ease the movement of the traditional rulers.

She called on all traditional rulers to redouble efforts in sustaining peace in their domain, and appreciated them for their support to government and the progress of the state.

In her address, Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Umma Ahmed urged the royal fathers to utilize their positions to promote peace and mutual understanding among their subjects.

She encouraged them devise effective means of communication with their subjects, to tackle any issue that may lead to breakdown of law and order.

In his speech, the Emir pledged his support to the government and working towards improving security of lives and property in his domain.

“I will like to assure you that this single act of kindness in upgrading our Emirate to Second Class Status will be complemented by keen cooperation with the government in providing security and development to our people,” he said.

Muhammad appealed to the state government to mandate the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Pambeguwa to use Late Muhammad Dabo Lere Memorial Hospital for students practicals, to enhance healthcare delivery in the area.

The Emir applauded the state government for actualising his long years of agitation to upgrade the status of the emirate from third class to second class.

Also in his acceptance speech, the Chief of Kudaru appealed to the government to establish a faculty of Kaduna State University in his community.

Sauri also appealed for the supply of fertilizer to the largely farming community in the chiefdom.

He pledged to support the government in its efforts to provide services to the people.(NAN)
