Emir Sanusi absent at Ganduje’s swearing-in

THE Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi II was absent at the swearing-in of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for a second term in office.
The swearing-in was held on Wednesday, at Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano.
All the four newly sworn-in Emirs, Alhaji Tafida Abubakar II of Rano Emirate, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero of Bichi Emirate, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdilkadir of Gaya Emirate and Alhaji Ibrahim Abubakar of Karaye Emirate, all of whom were adorned in their royal regalia, alongside their Dogarai (Palace guards) were present.
In his inaugural speech, Governor Ganduje said, now is the time to work together, as elections are over. He stressed that this is the time for consolidation and initiation of human-oriented projects that will add value to the good people of Kano.
Ganduje also promised to live up to his billings by ensuring even development at the 44 Local Government Areas of the State.
Moments after being sworn-in by the Chief Judge of Kano state, Justice Nuruddeen Sagir Umar, alongside his Deputy, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, Ganduje also promised free and compulsory basic education for all school-age children in Kano.
Besides, Ganduje hinted that tertiary education for Kano State indigenes would be highly subsidized. He added that his government would consolidate on the achievements, so far recorded, especially on healthcare, disclosing that plans are already underway to establish a cancer research centre to cater to female cancer patients. – Punch
