Emir sponsors 10 youths on welding and fabrication training

ALHAJI Umar Atiku, Emir of Akko in Gombe State has sponsored 10 youths to train as welders and fabricators as part of efforts to address restiveness in the community.
The training was also organised so that the beneficiaries could become self-reliant.
The emir spoke at the graduation and presentation of certificates to the beneficiaries in Kumo, headquarters of Akko Local Government Area of the state on Monday.
He said he was confident that the training would achieve its intended purposes.
The training was conducted at the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT) Northeast office in Kumo.
The emir charged the beneficiaries to be committed to their livelihoods and to train more youths.
Atiku cautioned youths to desist from drug abuse and promised to encourage philanthropists in the emirate to sponsor more youths to acquire skills.
He commended NITT for bringing the training programmes to his emirate and assured that more participants would be sponsored to train in different aspects of transport technology and other skills.
In his remarks, Mr Samson Simon, Liaison Officer of NITT commended the emir for sponsoring the youths and called on philanthropists, politicians and traditional rulers to sponsor more people.
He noted that NITT was established to provide training for personnel in the business of transport service as well as for unemployed youths.
Simon said that NITT offered certificate, diploma, advanced diploma, post-graduate diploma and Master’s degrees in Transport and Logistics.
Some of the beneficiaries commended the emir for his efforts at ensuring that youth unemployment and restiveness in Akko emirate was reduced to the barest minimum.
They also commended the NITT for the knowledge and skills imparted in them and promised to make good use of the knowledge and skills.
