EMIR of Bungudu in Zamfara, Alhaji Hassan Attahiru, on Wednesday challenged his subjects to contribute to intelligence gathering and sharing as their contribution to ending insecurity.

The emir threw the challenge at one-day public awareness programme on security organised by Bungudu Concerned Citizens Group in collaboration with security agencies.

Attahiru also charged his subjects to always monitor movements around them and promptly report any questionable character to security agencies.

He commended the group for the initiative and security agencies for their tireless efforts at restoring peace and security in Zamfara.

The Divisional Police Officer in Bugundu, SP Dauda Yahya, presented a paper entitled: “Roles of Community in Sustaining Peace and Security’’ at the event.

He noted that security is a collective responsibility and described the awareness programme as one that is in consonance with community policing system being introduced by government to tackle insecurity.

Coordinator of the group, Malam Masaud Ibrahim, said the programme aimed at complementing government’s efforts at tackling insecurity.

He said the group was committed to public awareness and stakeholders’ consultations in the areas of security, education and health for the betterment of the people of the area.

Participates were students, youths, women, security aide groups, traditional and religious leaders. (NAN)
