THE Chairman of Civil Liberties Organization, CLO Anambra State Branch, Vincent Ezekwueme, has called on political class and Nigerians to emulate patriotic, selfless, prudent, humble and honest life of former governor of Anambra State Late Pius Chukwuemeka Ezeife.

Ezekwueme made the remarks when he paid a condolence visit to the late Ezeife, country home at Igboukwu, Aguata LG.

I’m humbled and overwhelmed by humble, sacrifices and selfless life style of former governor Ezeife.

He always bears the interest of larger society at heart than his personal or family interest. His passion for social justice, equity, rule of law, good governance and socioeconomic justice is unequal and unprecedented.

Pertinently, as governor he prudently and judiciously utilized Anambra State funds for public good and left humongous money, while leaving office. Ezeife held weekly town hall meetings with cross section of citizens and got feedback on impacts of government policies and programmes.

His was super human and rare gift to humanity which manifested when he declined to celebrate his birthday unless Nnamdi Kanu is released and Nigerian of Igbo extraction elected president.

He was instrumental to ensuring that people’s vote count during 2021 governorship election in Anambra State.

He rendered unequal and unblemish meritorious services as civil servant, permanent secretary, governor and presidential adviser.

“We appeal to Gov. Soludo, OHANAEZE, United Igbo Elders Council, The Patriots, political class and civil society organizations to accord our late servant leader a befitting state burial.

“May God forgive and forget his shortcomings and grant eternal repose of his gentle and humble soul in paradise,” he said.

Speaking on behalf of the Ezeife family, Agbachukwu Ezeife, thanked Ezekwueme and CLO for identifying with them at this sorrowful, painful and mourning period.

“Our late father lived and died for God and humanity,” he stated.
