Endeavour to collect your PVCs, APC official tasks electorate
Politics
HAJIYA Zainab Ibrahim, National Deputy Woman Leader, All Progressives Congress (APC), has called on the electorate to endeavour to collect their Permanent Voter Card (PVCs).
Ibrahim said this when Hadizatu Mustapha, Chairperson, HUM National Support Group for Tinubu/Shettima, visited her on Wednesday in Abuja.
Ibrahim said that arming the electorate with their PVCs was critical in enabling them vote wisely in the 2023 general elections.
While describing the choice of Ahmed Tinubu and Kashim Shettima in the 2023 presidential election as desirable, Ibrahim said that it would promote women inclusion.
She further described the group as worthy to reckon with and urged them to work for the success of the party in 2023.
“It is said that in the animal kingdom all animals are equal but some are more equal than the others. So, I want to call you the lion of the support groups.
“The calibre of people I have seen in this support group is by every means asset to the APC.
“The time has come for us to put on our serious shoes to work for our party,’’ she said.
Ibrahim said that APC produced sellable candidates for the forthcoming election.
“Our party has produced sellable candidates and despite all odds and challenges we have something to sell and tell about our presidential candidate, and this by no means is what we call divinity.
“God in his infinite mercy has produced for APC Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kashim Shettima; both have their antecedents.
“Tinubu turned Lagos into a capital hub of Africa and he was the first governor to pick a female as a deputy governor.
“This tells us that he is a very gender sensitive person and we expect nothing less than that when he becomes president,’’ she said.
While emphasising that Tinubu would promote women inclusion, Ibrahim said that Shettima worked assiduously to end insurgency in Borno.
“I therefore urge this group to embark on house to house campaign to sensitise the people to understand the need to collect their PVCs.
“The collection is not as good as the registration, therefore, what is enormous ahead of us is to ensure the electoral body has no PVC remaining in its office,’’ she said.
Earlier, Mustapha said that the visit was to formally introduce the organisation to the party.
Mustapha added that the HUM National Support Group for Tinubu/Shettima was committed to galvanising resources and support, for massive votes for APC’s victory in 2023.
According to her, the group has secured a contact office in the Central Business District close to the campaign headquarters of APC for N10 million, excluding tasteful furnishing to match and befit the tech status of the presidential team.
“We are at an advanced stage of the partition work to demarcate the office to accommodate our officials.
“It is within this scenario that we seek to notify you and seek your support and collaboration before the campaign commences next month.
“Your endorsement will provide us with the leverage with which to advance the political interests and space for the candidates of the great party.
“Our network of members cuts across the length and breadth of the country, taking into consideration the diversity of the citizenry,’’ Mustapha said.
She pledged that the group would work assiduously to entrench APC at all levels. (NAN)
