According to National Bureau of Statistics, Nigeria imported 4.37 billion litres of fuel between July and September 2018

BETWEEN July and September this year, Nigeria imported 4.37 billion litres of petrol. Figures released by the National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, revealed that the country imported 873.72 million litres of automotive gas oil and 312.71 million litres of household kerosene were also imported during the period.

The Petroleum Products Report for the third quarter of 2018 released by the NBS recently showed that the month of September 2018 recorded the highest volume of premium motor spirits imported into the country at 1.59 billion litres. The highest volume of automotive gas oil and household kerosene was imported in July and August 2018, respectively.

“The petroleum products importation statistics for the third quarter of 2018 reflected that 4.37 billion litres of premium motor spirits, 873.72 million litres of automotive gas oil, 312.71 million litres of household kerosene, 212.8 million litres of aviation turbine kerosene, and 162.37 million litres of Liquefied Petroleum Gas were imported into the country in third quarter of 2018.”
