Entrepreneurship: Build and maintain a good name in your business says industry commissioner

ANAMBRA State Commissiner for Industry Mr. Christian Udechukwu has admonished the newly graduated students of the Department of Entrepreneurship studies of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka to endeavor to build and maintain a good name in their business as that is the best asset to make them flourish in their various business engagements.

The Commissioner gave the admonition in an occasion to celebrate them on their successful completion of the training workshop of Apprenticeship program powered by Onitsha Business School in collaboration with Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka and International Breweries Nigeria PLC at CBN Banking Hall of the University.

“The first foundation in business is securing a good name and not money for that is a prerequisite in the world of business.You are found worthy in learning and character so I congratulate you as you receive your certificate in Apprenticeship system”

“Your knowledge is the catalyst that will empower you into the future and bring you to greater heights”.

Mr. Udechukwu commended the Management of University on their synergy with the Onitsha Business School and Hero Breweries PLC for the opportunity given to the students to help catapult them into a broader and sophisticated view to various business enterprise through the skills acquired in the course of their training exercise.

“This is a very happy occasion and Mr. Governor extends his congratulations to you all.You are all pioneers and pioneers are enterprising, dedicated, relentless, committed and frontiers. I urge you all to go into the system and roar and let the world know that there
are great men and women who have come in to create markets and a niche for themselves.”he says

“I say congratulations for you are the generation that will transform apprenticeship system and create various ways of life sustainability.The skills you acquired will bring you to limelight when you begin to do things differently, so go on and make heroes of yourselves.”

The Commissioner therefore charged them to brace up to challenges and endeavor to ask questions from their tutors whenever they are at cross roads.

“The man who asks questions to his destination never takes a wrong path and when you meet challenges on the way, never give up but move on because the more you are closer to your breakthrough the greater the pressure you feel.”he advised

The Vice Chancellor of the University Prof. Charles Esimone commended the harvesting of the collaboration between the Onitsha Business School, the Department of Entrepreneurship of the school the the International Breweries Nigeria PLC for their fruitful partnership that culminated in the successful completion of the training workshop of Hero Apprenticeship program.

“This is a memorable day because the extension, joining and partnership is what we are celebrating today.It is a celebration of entrepreneurship and more than any other thing, you people symbolize the product of collaboration.”he says

The VC explained that the Business School has done greatly well and will continue to do more in order to champion their course while urging the graduating students to always uphold and act on their firm foundation in all spheres of life.

According to him, the University Business School undertook a research on the Igbo entrepreneurship system as enshrined in the publication of the book that was presented last year in the school at ASUU Secretariat.

Prof. Esimone noted that in 2006 the University became the first school in Nigeria to establish the set up of Entrepreneurship studies as they introduced into the Nigerian University system the Entrepreneurship program.

“It is therefore historic that Nnamdi Azikiwe University is the first to roll out graduates of Entrepreneurship studies.Giving out certificates to those who have successfully undergone the study is a product of partnership and collaboration.”

He enjoined them to go into the system and show case their expertise and be able to sustain themselves to survive all the turbulence.

“You are now the meeting point of practice and learning of operation and theory. You are the heroes.”he exclaimed

The Vice Chancellor was represented by Prof.Ike Odimegwu.

The Commissioner for Youths Development Mr. Patrick Ayamba commended the International Breweries for their wonderful commitment towards human capital development stressing that it is a milestone in creating job opportunities and employment as unemployment is the biggest challenges we are facing.

“I appreciate Mr. Governor Prof. Charles Soludo for his commitment towards this human capital development especially in youths development.”

The Commissioner emphasized that the Governor has rolled out a lot of programs especially 1 youth 2 skills and it is line with the policy of the government in engaging Anambra youths and also supporting enterprise and businesses in the state.

“This is a great milestone program coming from the International Breweries PLC supporting the government because it is the primary responsibility of the government to provide social support, create enabling environment and job opportunities for the people.”

He pointed out that Mr. Governor is championing Private Public Community Partnership(PPCP) and the brewery has keyed into the PPCP arrangement as well as the government through the Ministry of Youths Development who are working closely to ensure the sustainability of the youths.

“I commend them for their synergy as they continue to add value to what we are doing in the state.”

The President Ogbaru Main Market Mr. Ndubuisi Ochiogu who was represented by the Secretary Mr. Bucknor Agu thanked the Onitsha Business school for partnering the University and Hero Breweries in enhancing the potentials of the students while urging them to be frontiers and make the best out of the opportunity given them.

The Class Representative of the students Mr. David Obidike thanked the Management of the University and the Business School with Hero Breweries for their partnership in enabling them to under go the Hero Apprenticeship program and assured that the opportunity availed them shall remain a firm foundation for their future engagements.

One of the students Mrs. Chinenye Obasi commended the Hero Breweries in collaboration with the Business School and the University for the opportunity given them while assuring of her readiness to be a good ambassador and also improve on the skills she acquired.

“Am happy that I have come this far and I thank God for making everything possible, am happy to be presented with this certificate which is a product of partnership.”

Earlier in a vote of thanks, Prof.Stella Okunna praised the University for their partnership with Hero Breweries PLC and the Business School for their outstanding engagement that resulted in successful completion of the training workshop and urged the students to be at their best in their various enterprise as the knowledge acquired in the course of their training should be their guide.

“You are now better equipped with the new skills so go out, power on and unleash the expertise in you.”Okunna says

Presentation of the certificates by Prof. Ike Odimegwu to the students was the high point of the occasion.
