Entrepreneurship: Foundation to empower 500 youths in Anambra

Onwa Igbariam Foundation, an NGO, says it has concluded plans to train more than 500 youths in 2019 as part of its entrepreneurial skills training in Anambra East Council Area of Anambra.
Chief Chukwunweuwa Anikpeh, Chairman of the foundation said this during the distribution of gifts to more than 200 women in Igbariam, Anambra State on Wednesday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Anikpeh distributed bags of rice to widows and indigent women in the area.
He said that the youths who would be drawn from the 11 towns of the council, would be trained in automobile, panel beating, mechanical and electrical engineering.
Anikpeh said the foundation would be empowering youths because of its experience from developed countries which showed that technology drives economy.
“We shall train not less than 500 youths on entrepreneurship with special interest in mechanical and electrical engineering, automobile and other technical skills because technology leads the world,” he said.
He also said some youths in the council had been given clippers to enable them start off a new life as barbers.
According to him, the foundation is established to assist the needy and less privileged.
“When I was growing up, I promised God that if I make it in life, I will be charitable to people.
“This is an annual event and the fifth in thanksgiving to God for protecting me and my family in the last year.
The philanthropist, who also aspired to the Anambra State House of Assembly on the platform of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) lamented his loss at the party’s primary elections.
He expressed hope that he would regain his mandate through the law courts.
“I am optimistic that I will win that case at the Federal High court. I will recover my stolen mandate, APGA is our identity,” he said. (NAN)
