ENUGU State Government says it will focus more on grassroots sports to fish out talents that will win laurels in national and international competitions.

The Special Adviser to Enugu State Governor on Special Duties, Uwakwe Azikiwe, made the disclosure in Enugu on Wednesday at the closing ceremony of the Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi football tournament tagged `Gburugburu All Public Secondary Schools Football Championship’.

Azikiwe who stood in for the governor at the event expressed dismay at the dearth of athletes and footballers across the country.

The special adviser said that the government would keep organizing the championship annually to fish out young people that were talented.
