WORRIED by the alarming spike of insecurity across Enugu state in recent times, Enugu State Progressives forum, a think tank of Enugu indigenes in Lagos state, has called on residents to be more security conscious as they go about their businesses.
In a press release singed by Everest Ozonweke, the coordinator, and Chris Uzoma Okolo, secretary, the group condemned the gruesome murder of Prof. Ndubuisi who until his assassination was the Chief Executive Officer of the Scientific Equipment Development Initiative SEDI.
The report reads in part, We are heavily saddened by the heartless and senseless assassination of Prof. Ndubuisi which took place less than 72 hours of assassination of Chief Executive Officer of AuthoEase Company, Ifeanyi Okeke, in the presence of his 7 year old son. You may recall that Prof Nnaji was also assassinated recently.
Within this period, the security challenges in Enugu State has worsened by the minutes with lives and properties lost in their numbers almost unresisted.
Life in the once peaceful State have snowballed into a negative and precarious trajectory with insecurity fast becoming a new misnomer.
If this trend is not matched with corresponding counter and fierce force, our dear state may soon become a terror republic, where nobody is safe. God forbid!
It has been a reign of terror with our best brains as the target. Enugu State Progressives Forum condemns this in it’s entirety.
The ugly trend in the state must be arrested now before it becomes worse.
In the past, Enugu State consistently maintained the status of most peaceful and hospitable State in the south east until recent developments.
We urge our security personnel’s who put their lives on their line of duty not to be deterred, but rise up to the occasion with visible and reassuring measures that can guarantee the security of lives and property in Enugu State, those responsible for this heinous act must be brought to book, .
We commiserate with Enugu State police command and the family of the Prof. Ndubuisi’s police orderly who paid the supreme price.
We applaud the profound actions of our Governor HE Right Honourable Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi who has shown capacity in actions taken so far to arrest this ugly trend. We see his concious and encouraging interventions in this regard.
Our deepest condolences also goes to the family of Prof Ndubuisi and others whose lives were cut short by fellow humans, may their souls rest in perfect peace. And to their families the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
