Environment: Group engages 120 youths in Adamawa

YOLA Renewal Foundation (YRF), a non governmental organization (NGO), has engaged 120 youths to enhance Environmental Economic Sustainability activities in Adamawa.
The Project Manager, Mr Jimmy Lort stated this during the orientation course for the youth, on Thursday in Yola.
He said the group has recently recycled 360 tonnes of plastic waste equivalent to 360,000 kilogrammes.
Lort said the plastic waste were being recycled into tiles, interlocks for pavement materials, adding that the products were being patronised by interested parties.
He said the project was being supported by the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooporation (NADC).
“We spent about N70 million to established our recycling plant at Sangere Community in Yola South Local Government Area,” he said.
Lort said the organisation had worked out modalities to expand the scope of the programme across the 21 LGAs of the state.
Mr Austine Ajayi, one of the participants lauded the gesture, adding that it would create jobs, reduce redundancy and crimes in the society.
He urged government and wealthy individuals to emulate the gesture for sustainable development of the state. (NAN)
