TIRED of continuous waiting without success over installation of prepaid meters, the residents of Dopemu, under the aegis of Dopemu Community Development Association (Dopemu CDA), Agege Local Government in the Ikeja Division area of Lagos State, recently protested against estimated bills, has said “no more to crazy and estimated bills” from Ikeja Electric (IE).

The residents, in thousands, marched to the headquarters of Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company chanting “enough of crazy and estimated bills”.

According to the CDA Secretary, Seyi Lasisi and the Youth leader of the community, Sulaiman Alao, the community had waited endlessly since 2011 when they said IE promised to install prepaid meters in their community, but long after the device was installed in Ikeja and its environs, the company abandoned their area and continued with estimated bills.

“We are saying that it is either the DisCo installs prepaid meter to our respective houses or stop the outrageous estimated billing system. “

We are tired of being given estimated bills! We want prepared meters!  If there is no prepaid meters, please don’t come to our community for anything!    –  Vanguard
