RESIDENTS of Umueze Village, Uga community in Aguata Local Government Area, LGA, of Anambra State are now living in fear because of erosion menace in the area.

This has prompted them to send a “Save Our Soul Message”, to the Anambra State government to intervene over the erosion disaster, presently threatening to sack the community.

Jude Ozor, vice-chairman of the community, recalled that during the regime of previous administration, a contract was awarded to tackle the menace, which was, however, not completed.

He said that the community embarked on the project to divert the flood waters to a channel.

Uzo said that if proper measures were not taken, many houses, market, including St. Michael’s Catholic Church in the area might be sub-merged.

According to him some of the homes are close the site of the erosion.

He also called for the urgent intervention of both the federal and state governments to revisit the contract before it would too late.
