AN Esu priest, Mr Obaela Ifa-Seyi, says it is time to correct misrepresentation of African heritage by foreigners.

Ifa-Seyi spoke on Tuesday at the 2024 Esu Day celebration held at the New Afrika Shrine at Alausa, Ikeja.

He was the guest lecturer at the event with the theme: “Esu is Not Satan”.

Ifa-Seyi spoke on the topic:  ”Africans Arise”.

“We cannot continue to fold our arms and have the ineptitude  define our identity for us.

“I therefore urge all to let your leg walk the walk, your mouth talk the talk and your heart feel the love.

“The cause of our undevelopment has been the relegation of our heritage and neglect of our god in pursuit of foreign tradition and culture,” he said.

The Convener of the event, Chief Awodiran Okanlawon-Agboola, the Arabe of Oworonsoki, Lagos, said that Esu Day  celebration had come to stay.

He said that there was the need  to use every avenue to correct the misconception about African culture and tradition.

According to him, Esu is god of benevolence, and not evil.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event  was also celebrated in seven other countries.

It featured  cultural displays besides the lecture. (NAN)
