EU countries working on new sanctions on Iran over supply of drone

EUROPEAN Union countries are working on new sanctions on Iran over Iran-made drones used by Russia in strikes against Ukraine, a European Commission’s spokesperson said on Wednesday.
“Now that we have gathered our own sufficient evidence, work is ongoing in the Council in view of a clear, swift and firm EU response,” the spokesperson said.
The Council of the EU is the institution representing the bloc’s 27 member states.
EU foreign affairs ministers together with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba on Monday discussed sanctioning Iran over its supply of drones to Russia .
Top EU diplomat Josep Borrell said at the time that “concrete evidence” was needed after Iran denied being involved. (dpa/NAN)
